BANGKOK – Thailand international striker Teeratep Winothai has joined Muang Thong United (MTU) for the second half of the Thailand Premier League season.
The 24-year-old (pictured) is on the books of Belgian second division side Lierse SK, where he scored once in eight appearances for the four-time national champions but returned to Thailand to cement his place in the national team as the three-time ASEAN champions look to qualify for the 2011 AFC Asian Cup.
Teerathep, who spent four years in England with the youth teams of Crystal Palace and then Everton before joining inaugural AFC Champions League runners-up BEC Tero Sasana, could make his Muang Thong debut on Sunday, when the TPL high-fliers take on Thai Port.
MTU are currently third in the table with the side that gained promotion to the top flight by winning the first division title last season sitting on 29 points after 15 matches, one less than second-place Bangkok Glass who in turn trail AFC Cup quarter-finalists Chonburi on goal difference.
