
SINGAPORE – Singapore went down 5-0 to English Premier League side Liverpool on Sunday as Lions’ head coach Radojko Avramovic assessed his options ahead of November’s AFC Asian Cup 2011 qualification double-header against Thailand. Andriy Voronin opened the scoring for the five-time European champions on the stroke of half-time before second-half goals from Albert Riera (54th), Krisztian Nemeth (73rd and 84th) and Fernando Torres (80th) sealed Singapore’s fate.Singapore face Thailand – who had held Liverpool to a 1-1 draw in Bangkok a few days earlier – in the island republic on November 14 before the return fixture in the Thai capital four days later.With two rounds played, Singapore are currently second in Asian Cup qualifying Group E with three points, one adrift of leaders Iran, while the Thais have two points, one more than last-place Jordan.
