Bryan Robson's appointment as Thailand's national team coach appears imminent after the former England captain indicated he is ready to sign a deal.
Robson is in line to replace fellow English manager Peter Reid as Thailand's manager after his contract was terminated just a year into the job.
An agreement between Robson and the Thai Football Association hinges on a compromise of the coach's time commitments in South-East Asia. The former Manchester United skipper wants to continue ambassador duties with his old club.
Asked if he had agreed to take the job yet, he told a press conference in Bangkok: "No, but it's looking pretty good. What we will discuss is the commitment that is involved for the national team and the timescale for that, because of the commitments that I have in England with Manchester United.
"I think that I am comfortable that I can do both and do them well. The Thai Football Association are comfortable with that as well," he added.
"Thailand have a great chance of qualifying for the Asian Cup. I have spoken to Peter Reid and he really enjoyed the one year that he spent here.''
Thailand Football Association chairman Worawi Makudi thanked Robson for coming and said there would be another press conference on Wednesday after their talks.
Former Sunderland and Manchester City boss Reid's contract as Thailand's national coach was terminated earlier this month after just a year. He has been appointed number two at Stoke City.
Worawi has previously rejected criticisms that Robson had had no major success during his time as manager at other clubs.
